Interceptor Plus for Dogs

Interceptor Plus is a once-a-month flavored tablet used for the prevention of heartworm disease and the control of roundworms, hookworms, whipworms and tapeworms in dogs. Your dog should be tested for heartworm prior to use.

Item Specifications:

Benefits:
Interceptor Plus is indicated for the prevention of heartworm disease and the treatment and control of roundworms, hookworms, whipworms, and tapeworms in dogs.

For use:
Dogs at least 6 weeks of age and weighing at least 2 lb.

Active ingredient(s):
Milbemycin oxime, praziquantel

Cautions:
Keep this and all drugs out of the reach of children. Treatment with fewer than 6 monthly doses after the last exposure to mosquitoes may not provide complete heartworm prevention. Make sure to tell your veterinarian what other medication you are giving to your pet. Quite often your veterinarian may prescribe two different medications, even if a drug interaction may occur.  In this case, your veterinarian may vary the dose and/or monitor your pet more closely. No interactions have been noted with this medication. Contact your veterinarian if your pet experiences any unusual reactions when different medications are given together.
Allergic reactions to medications may occur. Be sure to inform your veterinarian if your pet has any known drug sensitivities or allergies. If your pet displays symptoms of an allergic reaction, call your veterinarian immediately or go to a veterinary emergency clinic. Symptoms may include but are not limited to: swollen lips, tongue, face, airways; difficulty breathing; agitation; profuse salivation; vomiting; widespread hives and itching.

Side Effects:
There are very few side effects when the drug is given at the normal dose, but monitor your pet for vomiting, diarrhea, depression/lethargy, ataxia, anorexia, convulsions, weakness and salivation. Other side effects may occur. If you notice anything unusual, contact your veterinarian.

Usage:
Interceptor Plus should be given orally as directed by your veterinarian. Administer in a matter that encourages your pet to chew the tablet, rather than swallowing it whole. For heartworm prevention, give once monthly for at least 6 months after exposure to mosquitos.
